The school teachers at Kandal Primary School asked if we could help out by clearing and leveling a field next to the school so the boys and girls could play soccer. It would take $200.– to hire a tractor to do the bulk of the work. The teachers and kids would finish it off.

Please remember these kids are attending school in a leaky, tin roofed building with makeshift desks placed on dirt floors.  Two hundred dollars is a lot for a school so under funded that they don’t have enough school books to go around.

The kids had embraced the hygiene education and hand washing. We had also been approached by parents in the village telling us that their children were teaching hand washing and talking about germs at home. This was very encouraging and so the Rotary Club of Bath kicked in the soccer field money.  This is a great way to raise community spirit and support for our entire program.
